Shooting in the rain

I just finished posting my blog entry, “Practical Guide for Youth Soccer Photography – Part B” on the technical aspects of shooting soccer games and left to photograph my sons’ soccer games. The first game had good flat lighting and the techniques in the Guide applied. The second game was a different story! The first half started out fine, but then the influence of Tropical Storm Hanna kicked in. The sky darkened – forcing me to raise the ISO to 800, then lower the shutter speed to 1/500s and turn on image stabilization. Then the rain came down, so I bumped the ISO to 1000 and then 1200. I had left my f/2.8 70-200mm lens at home so I had to make do. I am just getting ready to review and process the photos to see how I did, I’ll post some of the photos here when I’m done.
