Mountain Biking at Night

I just got in from a super ride with my friend Chris. We rode in Mine Falls in Nashua, NH – just at the end of Chris’ road. The air was a cool 66o and dry when we started. The sun goes down fast this time of year so we rode with our headlights. The reds and yellows and browns of the leaves covering the trail was really spectacular. As we rode a single track over yellow leaves, we would turn a corner and suddenly the trail was carpeted with crimson leaves. Amazing!

Riding at night with lights is both fun and terrifying. The lights help you focus on the trail ahead – usually. But sometimes, the contrast from the shadows they cast makes small obstacles look BIG.

After the ride, we frequented our favorite Mexican place for beer (me) and burritos.
