		<description>Oil absorption does not affect the length. The bark is glued to the rod blank and that prevents movement. Oil doesn&#039;t typically cause wood to expand.

		<description>Dick, yes, the dark rings are burnt cork. You can purchase these at MudHole.com (search for burnt cork rings). They are 1/4&quot; thick so they need to be sliced. I usually cut them in half and then sand the surface on 320 grit paper to get a flat surface and reduce the thickness to about 3/32&quot;. Hope that helps!
