iPhone 4 Camera Musings!

I got my iPhone 4 the day it came out – replacing my iPhone 3GS, which replaced my iphone 3G, which replaced my original iPhone (see a pattern here?). With each iPhone, the camera has improved markedly. The camera in the new iPhone 4 is really nice, well, both of them are! There is the standard camera on the back-side of the phone and the iPhone 4 introduces a front-side camera for videoconferencing and taking photos of yourself.

This new camera is 5 megapixels (back, the front camera is VGA) and shoots HD Video – yes, HD Video! The same touch … Continue Reading

Tenkara fishing on Macedonia Brook, Ct

I drove to western Ct yesterday to see my daughter off on her trip to South Korea and Japan. In the morning, I got to spend 1 1/2 hrs on Macedonia Brook in Macedonia Brook State Park. This is a great little mountain stream – no wider than 15′ in most places and very tight with trees and shrubs on both banks, lots of boulders, and cascades. I decided that this would be the perfect place to try out my new TenkaraUSA Yamame rod and the flies I tied on Friday night. The flies … Continue Reading

I’m a little behind on my posting! This post is for photos taken from Saturday 4/25 to Friday. Overall, it was great weekof spring soccer!

Believe it or not, the ref called this on us (maroon). It almost looks like the player in green is going for a dive, almost.

Soccer Photos of the Week

It’s that time again! This weekend was drizzly, cold, windy and overcast – perfect to challenge a weekend photography warrior! I had lots of photos to choose from this weekend though. After reviewing the shots in detail, I thought a good theme would be “holding”. The referee did not call either of these.

Pick #1

Description

Maybe not so blatant holding in this shot but in the next 2 frames the bright red player had a pretty good grip on our player’s jersey!

Soccer Photo of the Week

Well, the spring soccer season has finally started! My youngest son’s U12 club team – FC Stars of Massachusetts – played on a really windy Sunday afternoon. So, without further fanfare, here is the first Photo of the Week for Spring 2009!

Restoration of a snapshot

This photo was taken the day before my wedding on Nov. 10, 1989. My brother flew over from Germany (he was stationed in Mainz) and my Mom & Dad came to Boston for my wedding. My mom took this photo with a little point & shoot ASP camera in Faneuil Hall in Boston. It is my Dad’s favorite photo so when I was visiting earlier this year I sneaked into his office and scanned the photo. The print was 3.5″ by 5″ and not in the world’s best … Continue Reading
