I’m a little behind on my posting! This post is for photos taken from Saturday 4/25 to Friday. Overall, it was great weekof spring soccer!

Pick #1

Believe it or not, the ref called this on us (maroon). It almost looks like the player in green is going for a dive, almost.

Soccer Photos of the Week

It’s that time again! This weekend was drizzly, cold, windy and overcast – perfect to challenge a weekend photography warrior! I had lots of photos to choose from this weekend though. After reviewing the shots in detail, I thought a good theme would be “holding”. The referee did not call either of these.

Pick #1

Description

Maybe not so blatant holding in this shot but in the next 2 frames the bright red player had a pretty good grip on our player’s jersey!

Soccer Photo of the Week

Well, the spring soccer season has finally started! My youngest son’s U12 club team – FC Stars of Massachusetts – played on a really windy Sunday afternoon. So, without further fanfare, here is the first Photo of the Week for Spring 2009!

Description

This is a photo of my son outpacing his defender – who has just given up the chase. At U12, athleticism and stamina counts as much – if not more – than skill.

Lens: Canon EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS USM

Soccer Photos of the Week

This weekend had a mix of grey overcast skies and rain and spectacularly beautiful New England autumn sun! I just got my 70-200mm lens back from Canon repair so I got a chance to try it out on the cloudy day. I also spent a little more time positioning myself in different locations in order to catch more midfield acrobatics and keeper action. Here are the results.

Pick #1

Description

This first pick was from one of those cloudy day shoots. I rarely see … Continue Reading

Soccer Photos of the Week

The fall soccer season is in the final few weekends. Between the cold and windy fields and the sun going down early, soccer photography is not for the weak! Those 4pm games can be very challenging to shoot as the lighting conditions change by the minute.

Pick #1

Description

Balance and Determination! Sometimes the camera captures a passing moment in time that happens so quickly that most spectators miss. This pick is one of those moments. Notice the total concentration on the ball and balance on … Continue Reading

Soccer Photos of the Week

This was a big soccer weekend with Columbus Day Weekend soccer tournaments. We had a total of 10 soccer games – but I was not able to attend all of them!

Pick #1

Description

This shot was taken at my daughter’s school in Ct on Saturday at their home Parent’s Weekend game. I see a lot of crazy entanglements in my photos but the photos are usually not presentable – this one was. Notice how the player’s arms are interlocked!

Soccer Photos of the Week

This was a great weekend for soccer! Not so great for photographing soccer though! It was a typical dry, cool and clear New England autumn weekend. The light was extremely bright, making early morning and late afternoon games difficult to shoot – especially when you can’t pick the best spot around the field because those pesky coaches are in the way! But, I was able to get some interesting shots.

Pick #1

Description

Header crunch! This action happened just in front of me and I could see the 2 players converging … Continue Reading
